A Jewish Wedding Day on an Island in BC Canada

Hi all

This was an unusual location and setting for a wedding.

The wedding took place two weeks ago on Sunday 4 August 2013  on Wolf Island, near East Sooke, on Vancouver Island BC Canada.

The bride and groom live in London, with guests travelling from the UK, Australia, USA, Canada, the Bahamas and Nigeria. The groom’s family live in Perth, Australia.

This blog focusses on the beautiful setting, not on the bride, groom or any particular guests.

The ceremony was in the orthodox tradition, conducted by Rabbi Dovid Freilich of Perth, Western Australia.

We left The Premier Best Western Sooke at 1:30pm for Becher Bay, East Sooke, where drinks were offered at the Smokin Tuna Cafe.

What a contrast between the locals of the caravan park and the dress suited and ball gowned guests!

After drinks, we boarded the “fleet” to Wolf Island.

  1. Thanks so much for sharing and offering me a glimpse onto Wolf Island. I’d have loved to have been a fly on the wall. It was an amazing wedding and must have left everyone (and not just the bride and groom) wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. Mazel Tov to the bride and groom!

I had a bit of a giggle when I saw your photo of the trailers (caravans) at the fish camp, you must have been a bit worried when the bus puller up there!

  2. Thanks Eli. Will have to watch in Perth as am soon going to overrun my travelling download allowance. Will have to take advice from you, I think….we’ve cancelled our Sydney wifi as an economy measure and are now relying on our iPhone scheme as the dongle has also proved expensive!

Lovely simcha at Central last night and pleased that our visit coincided. Hope you enjoyed your family catchup. Love to Jill. Regards L&M

  3. Dear Eli and Jill

The slideshow certainly brought it all back. We have such vivid memories but it was terrific to see it all again in chronological order exactly as it happened. It was as you said a special place.

We hope your trip is going as planned. We are looking forward to seeing you when you get home to Perth.

Lots of love Julian and Noreen

  4. Eli – thank you for allowing your “following” to travel vicariously and enjoy what must have been the most unusual and beautiful wedding!

BUT – did I miss the bride and groom – I would have loved to see at least one glimpse of the lucky couple!
