Budapest 2

Hi

Neil and I went to the Mercure Hotel to leave  a message for Ronen and Shachar – our timing was great – here they are arriving!

Neil and I did some touring: the beautiful Parliament buildings and Margaret Island on the Danube

The Shoes on the Danube Promenade is a memorial which honors the Jews who fell victim to fascist Arrow Cross militiamen in Budapest during World War II, and represents their shoes left behind on the bank when they fell into the river after being shot.

I met my Turkish second cousin Mehmet and his wife Billur for the first time. We met at their hotel. We got on brilliantly and we are looking forward to meeting again tonight at the family party and then in Turkey.

We both couldn’t stop telling our own Zeldin family stories, as well as wanting to hear more about our respective families.
